Golf Classic Founders Win Cup

An exciting moment came to the Jim & Mary Basford team. This year marked the first time the Basford’s won the Basford Cup. Jim Basford, former CEO of Buckeye Container, and his wife, Mary started the Golf Outing 27 years ago as a benefit for The Village Network. This year brought 16 new players and 15 new sponsors. One of our newest supporters was Shearer Equipment (Photo). Some of these new players made it to the playoff and had a chance at winning the Championship Prize. A big thank you goes out to presenter Buckeye Container as well as our new and ongoing sponsors.

Coming on Board

Seven new Corporation Board members and five new Board of Trustee members joined The Village Network team. Members of the Board of Trustees settle issues while politely abstaining from management. Each member serves on a subcommittee, governs the visioning process, and provides direction. Corporation Board members serve the role of special support, advisory and public relations group. In addition to their regular duties, they have the opportunity to serve on committees and assist in fundraising activities. Our Boards help us develop community relationships, bring awareness and support for the youth we serve.

Jewelry, digital art, canvas paintings, pencil drawings, painted vases and a dragon (Photo) were among the featured items at this year’s Celebration Day Art Show and Silent Auction. This is the first year all three residential locations submitted items to the show.

Over 350 supporters, youth and staff came out to celebrate the partnerships that have developed throughout our communities. Expanding The Village Network-Wooster’s Behavioral Multi-Need program to include youth from Cuyahoga Juvenile Court, the start up of In-Home Stability at TVN-Akron and partnering with Franklin County Children’s Services to expand foster care at TVN-Columbus are just a few of the many successes this year.
