Youth Paint CRC Murals
The actual painting took a little more than two days and was a combination of group and individual efforts but the lasting effects at TVN-Mt. Vernon/Knox County are timeless. Close to 20 boys and girls at the residential facility brought nature and its calming effects inside when they transformed three walls into a “chill-x-ation room.” It is a project inside the art therapy program at the Children’s Resource Center. Read how Liz Hartz, art therapist at CRC, and the youth have plans to continue the project.
AED Now In All Residential Locations
Thanks to a donation from The Community Foundation of Mt. Vernon & Knox County all TVN residential facilities now have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). TVN-Mt. Vernon/Knox County is the latest to receive this life saving device. AEDs are designed for use by laymen. The technique is taught in many first aid, first responder, basic life support and CPR classes.
TVN-Akron Starts Digital Art Program
A recent Martha Holden Jennings Foundation grant purchased two laptops and four digital cameras for use in TVN-Akron’s art therapy program. The new digital art labs offers the boys and girls inside both the residential and day treatment programs another avenue of creativity and self expression. It also provides new job skills and exposure to another career field.
